Laura Whitehead, guest musician

PianoGuest Musician, Laura Whitehead

We are delighted that Laura will assist our Choir during this Advent and Christmas season by playing our piano, allowing Cindy to actually direct the Choir the way our Music Director would like to – with her undivided attention.   And with more body parts than just her head!  It’s exciting for Choir.

Laura tells us a bit about herself:     I have loved the piano for as long as I can remember. As a young child I would sit and play for hours without being asked, but it wasn’t until high school that I began RCM exams and festival competitions. After high school I was accepted into the Performance Program at Mount Royal College, but I left the program to mountain bike competitively for a few years. I eventually returned to complete my diploma, after which I obtained a BMUS and MA in Musicology from the University of Victoria. I have been active as a piano teacher, performer, and accompanist for over 15 years, but I am also passionate about sport. In addition to competitive cycling, I have been a speed skater and coach, and I enjoy snowboarding in our beautiful Rockies.
